Ok I ran thorough this thread an didn't find an answer to my question. Besides all the usual bugs, can you use the consignment store if you are employed at a career, my sim is a cook but is also doing gardening and fishing. I have been selling stuff but I don't have any skill levels for consignment and I don't see where to do challenges? please help!

You can definitely use the consignment store if you're also employed in a career. Once you sell an item via the consignment store you'll unlock the skill in the skill tab. Look for the one with the price tag icon.

Yes, you can use the store to sell almost anything. The skill and it's challenges will be in your skill journal. Just hit J on your keyboard to bring it up immediately. The things you can't sell there is gems, metals, gnomes, and a few more. But anything else can be sold there. Welcome to the forums ADrake!
EDIT: Sorry Metro we were typing at the same time!  :-[

Hmm, I have been selling for two sim weeks, but I have nothing in my skill journal for it? I have sold many deathfish plus I started with metro's idea of 99 apples and lettuce, but still nothing. Any ideas?

You're certain you have taken product to the consignment store and received money at 5 PM? It floats up like a guitar tip.

Yea, it was telling me the top items that sold for the first week, since then I think I got the other bugs, I have canceled and relisted a couple times. But at the beginning they were selling. But still no skill....

Could you post a screenshot of your skill tab listing all of the skills of this Sim?

Where are you looking for this skill?  It doesn't show in the skill section where all your sims' skill levels appear.  You need to click on one of those skills to open the Skill Journal or whatever it's called.  Then you should, as Metro explained, see the price tag along the top; click on that, and there's your consignment store record.

Yeah, I'm looking for a screenshot where all the icons are shown in a row. ADrake, my guess is that you might not be familiar with what you're looking for because I've heard of a lot of consignment store bugs, but I've never heard of the icon being missing.

Hey, I'm glad you found it, ADrake. I've never bought into that whole "dumb blonde" myth. Hey, I'm blonde myself, and aside from my wife and kids, who in their right mind would say I do stupid things? That's why I prefer to measure intelligence with a more modern approach — the size of the computer monitor one uses.

Glad it all worked out ADrake! Metro, I would never ever say anything negative about you! My computer monitor is a 20" widescreen does that mean I'm extremely smart?  ;D ;D

Absolutely. Put that on your application to the Mensa Club. And feel free to list me as a reference.

The Consignment Shop - Unable to consign anything but produce and paintings
« Reply #242 on: April 24, 2011, 09:08:25 PM »
Does anyone know of an issue where a sim with an enormous inventory of paintings, produce, relics, gems, rocks.. the list goes on... is unable to sell anything except produce and paintings??  I have tried with several different sims, households, even towns and the items are just not in the consign list!  One sim had a good $100K worth of gems, rocks and relics and they could not be chosen to sell when at the register!  I know the shop has issues, but I haven't seen this particular problem yet, so hoping someone can help!

Thanks, Jenna

Welcome to the forums! Gems and rocks can't be sold at the consignment store. I'm not sure about relics but if it's not on the list they must not be able to be sold there either. You can sell them from your inventory though.

Still looking for an answer here... anyone???

First of all, thank you for the response.

Second, the guide for the consignment shop, found here: http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/ambitions/consignment.php says "Most any self employment profession can sell their wares at the store, and will receive significantly more money than selling items through the inventory interface. Here's a rundown of the types of skills that benefit:

* Fishing
* Inventing
* Nectar Making
* Painting
* Photography
* Relic Hunting: World Adventures owners can travel, gather a collection of relics and consign them when they get home. Excavate for relics, visit the relic vendors, and explore tombs to make plenty of money to fund your expeditions.
* Sculpting
* Writing "
(list condensed)

I have also seen another guide say you should be able to sell relics you find.

Anyone else have any ideas?
THANKS!!

It's not directly connected to this thread but it is relevant so I decided to post it here. I'm building a consignment store for the Swap Shop but I can't find the register in buydebug. Does anyone know where it is?

The register is under community objects. I had a picture, I will try to find it for you. Found it. When you're in build mode on a community lot, it's under community objects: miscellaneous objects.

Hope this helps!  ;D

Sorry to double post but this is important and totally different. My sim Rachel Aiya went to the consignment store and consigned her items. The specialist said in a box up at the top that he had put up her wares but some of the customers were getting tired of the same type of stuff being consigned. I consigned several vegetables, two sculptures, about seven or eight fish and four paintings. What does should I do and what does it mean?

I have that all the time. I've actually not seen it mean anything. People still buy it, but maybe not as fast as before. It happens to me when I unconsign and consign several days in a row. That's why I normally consign, wait 2-3 days, unconsign and reconsign. Hope that made sense!
