Is it that the longer life wish has been over-ridden by the imaginary friend lifespan?

Maybe.  I also wondered about that but since the IF and human lifespans are the same, wouldn't that be a null result?
*Is boggled by Sims game mechanics.*

At least Bluebell's got gorgeous turnout (although I'm a bit concerned about her knees).

Me too.  Considering that was the first time she had warmed up at the barre, that's a pretty impressive first(?) position.  Maybe IFs have really mobile hips naturally - which would be an evolutionary advantage for an occult type that routinely gets mauled by toddlers, come to think of it.

I like Nightshade even better now I've seen his teddy bear :D

;D.  I usually hand teddy bears down my Sim families: I like the idea of teddies as heirlooms.  This time, I've gone away from that and every child has a new teddy appropriate to their (or their father's) origin/life state.  Bluebell is again an exception - it felt right for her to inherit Oleander's IF bear.

Nightshade was kind of a frightening/adorable toddler, especially in that last shot before he aged up. The IF hair really seems to fit Bluebell. Hooray for interfering with genetics  ;)

He was.  I missed one or two even scarier screenshots  :o.
I have a sneaking fondness for evil toddlers: they always seem so aware of everything. ("Yes, watcher, I'm looking at you!")
Bluebell is rapidly becoming another favourite, although I suspect part of it is feeling sorry for her because of her shorter lifespan  :'(.

Welcome, new nooboo! Sims babysitters are such great help, aren't they  :P

Yeah :P.  Annie was a lot better than some - which isn't saying much  ::).

It's nice to see Ally's kids in town! Well, apart from the *coughs* complications!

*Cough*  Yes, um...
Really, how could Val fail to notice that Ally was his mother?!  OK, he moved out a few days befre they left Bridgeport and moving messed up the friendships but even so...  :o

I really enjoy seeing what the adult children are up to.

Me too - although I still wouldn't have made Sage the consignment clerk.  Bookshop, yes.  Science or medicine would have been even better (shamefully, I can't remember whether I put him into a career before he moved out  :-[).

Boyfriend Troubles

Billy had now met and befriended all of his business colleagues – and three of them were men.  One was Simon Cho, whom Ally had met in the park on their first day in Hidden Springs.  The second was Peter Winterly but I discounted him at once: he and Adele are so sweetly romantic whenever I see them together that there was no way I was going to let Ally break them up.  That left Christoff Colby, someone I’d not really noticed before.  On the Saturday, Billy invited him over.  He reset.  Three times.  Then he arrived but said he’d have to leave before he’d even walked through the gate.  The next time, I sent Ally out to the street to waylay him as soon as he got out of the car.

189.Christoff.jpg

A paparazzo was lurking hopefully.  Really, I’d have thought ‘Alison Flower seen talking to a man’ was very, very old news by now.

Ally chatted with Christoff, discovered that he worked in business (obviously Billy doesn’t talk about his colleagues at home) and asked his star sign.  She also discovered that he too was married.  And then I spotted the kelp-related conversational options.  After Jon, I really didn’t want another merchild.  And so Christoff went home yet again.

Simon it was, then.  Billy invited him round and, as soon as he arrived, he voluntarily walked over to the garden to chat to Ally.  A promising start.

190.Simon.jpg

Since it was the weekend, keeping the rest of the family out of the way might be a little tricky.  I made sure they were all busy, then told Ally to invite Simon into the house.  They were just moving on from friendly to romantic interactions when Billy appeared in the hall.  Oh dear  :-\.

191.Billy_reaction.jpg

But it was fine.  He walked straight past them, unconcerned.  He even seemed amused by Ally’s latest choice of lover.

192.Billy_reaction.jpg

Maybe he was pleased that she’d picked someone with good taste in hats.  Then he went upstairs to chat to Bluebell, leaving Simon looking slightly disconcerted.

193.Billy_reaction.jpg

Ally went back to her interrupted flirting.  She’d just got as far as the first kiss when I spotted Billy coming downstairs again  :o.

194.Downstairs_again.jpg

Surely there would be trouble this time.  Chatting was one thing; kissing was quite another.

195.Billy_reaction.jpg

Wow!  He really is tolerant.

As Ally led Simon into the bedroom…

196.Simon.jpg

…Billy went off to discuss art with Lotus.

197.Art.jpg

Oh!  Is this why Billy was amused?

198.Sock_gap.jpg

Was Simon’s inability to negotiate the sock gap the subject of office gossip?  ;D

As usual, pregnant Ally found Billy completely irresistible…

199.Billy.jpg

200.Billy.jpg

…and he always managed to take his socks off at the right moment.

After a quiet couple of days, the Flowers had a very busy evening.  First, Ally went into labour.  Then, as soon as she and Billy had left for the hospital, Tiger Lily aged up to toddler.

201.Toddler_TL.jpg

Herb Robert entered the world a couple of hours later.

202.HR_birth.jpg

His father was not in attendance – maybe he was still trying to explain his temporary aberration to Alisha.  (Not to mention their relationship changes: from husband and wife to best friends and then to not-married partners in the space of a few hours – I sometimes wish the relationship transmogrifier had more settings.)

Immediately afterwards, Lotus had her young adult birthday.

202.YA_Lotus.jpg

Her school collection was the most impressive yet, mostly because she went on so many field trips.

203.Lotus_school_stuff.jpg

Her place in the household didn’t stay vacant for long.  Early the following morning, Zinnia retrieved one of Sage’s potions from the storage chest.

204.IFM_potion.jpg

Unlike Oleander, Dandelion was keen to try it.

205.Potion.jpg

206.Potion.jpg

He and Zinnia were already BFFs.  Now they realised that they were madly attracted to each other.

207.Atraction.jpg

It was probably as well that the school bus arrived just then: despite their relaxed lifestyle, I’m not sure her parents would have approved of Zinnia standing around in her bedroom, wearing only her undies and snogging a boy they’d never seen before.

The Education Authority hadn’t yet caught up with Dan’s existence and so he had the day off school.  He and Zinnia are really well suited – he’s also a bot fan (and has really nice traits in general, unlike a lot of IFs).  He spent most of the day in unconvincing robot form, learning to cook…

208.Bot_fan.jpg

…playing games and getting to know those members of the family who weren’t at school.

209.Bot_fan.jpg

He and Zinnia were going to be such a sweet couple at Prom.

Or not – I suddenly noticed that Dan’s age bar was full.  Once Zinnia was home from school, they made the most of the very short time they did have together: by evening, they were going steady.

210.Go_steady.jpg

Then Dandelion grew up.

211.YA_Dan.jpg

Weirdly, his eyebrows as a young adult are blond.  They were purple, like his hair, while he was still a teen.  I thought of dyeing them to match but eventually settled for disguising them with glasses.

He said a restrained goodbye to the girlfriend he was now too old to kiss, got out his phone and called the estate agent…

212.Dan_move_out.jpg

…while Zinnia finished her homework.  The sooner she was on the honour roll, the better.

Being hugged by somebody in a cardboard bot costume looks really uncomfortable.

I always imagined 'sock gap' with capital letters - but lol either way :D

Billy makes the best faces when he sees Ally with other men. He has got to be the most tolerant and understanding husband. EVER.

I've played Billy as a best friend or spouse several times and always liked him but this version seems to be particularly wonderful (or maybe it's just the No Jealousy reward - I've not used it before but it seems to be working amazingly well in this game).

This is my first time posting in the forum but I just wanted to say how much I love reading this story!  It caught my attention when I had just joined and was browsing around and I spent the next several hours catching up.  I can't wait to see the next Flowers baby! :)

I have been playing starting with the original Sims in 2000 when I was a freshman in high school!  A LONG time ago lol.  I only play once in a while when I have time but I just bought The Sims 4 with all the expansions and I am really liking it .  I have to say I think my favorite version was The Sims 3 though

Tomorrow’s World

At last, it was time to do something I’d been itching to do since early in the game: retrieve the Time Portal from the family inventory.

1.Portal.jpg

Ally went out to have a look.

2.Portal.jpg

It didn’t seem to do much.  She poked it harder.

3.Portal.jpg

As the portal came to life, a strangely-dressed man staggered out.

4.Emit.jpg

Emit Revelart introduced himself and explained that he was a traveller from the future but needed help from the present day to repair his time machine.  Then he gave Ally an odd device that he called an ‘Almanac of Time’.

5.Emit.jpg

Billy wandered over at about that point and Emit decided for some reason that he would be better-placed than Ally to help with the repairs.  Had there been a resurgence of sexism in the future?  Ally would have been a much better choice: she had maxed handiness.  Billy was at level 2 or 3.

On the other hand, maybe Ally’s notoriety had persisted until Emit’s time and he just wanted an excuse to get to know this fascinating woman better.  Whatever the reason, Ally and Emit had an enjoyable water balloon fight while Billy ran around the garden collecting the scattered power cells.

6.Emit.jpg

With his help, Emit was able to repair his damaged portal.  Billy hung around to watch, clearly fascinated by the whole process.  Ally, equally clearly bored and short of sleep, went indoors to feed Herbie and then settled down for a nap in the rocking chair.

Emit ran a few incomprehensible tests, thanked Billy for his help, jumped into the glow at the centre of the portal and disappeared.  Billy couldn’t wait to follow.  He called Ally to come and join him…

7.Jumping_in.jpg

…then walked cautiously into the time vortex.

8.Leaving.jpg

Ally woke Zinnia and asked her to look after the little ones until their return, then followed Billy and the Traveller.

9.Arrival.jpg

Once again, Emit seemed more interested in Alison than Billy.  He gave her a jetpack, which she wasn’t at all sure she’d ever dare to use, despite the multiple deathflowers in her inventory.  Then he pointed out some of the nearby places of interest and sent her off to explore.

10.Emit.jpg

Alison and Billy spent a couple of days doing all of the standard things you do when suddenly transported to the future: meeting descendants…

11.Descendants.jpg

12.Descendants.jpg

…exploring the town, meeting the residents and getting to grips with future technology…

13.Future_tech.jpg

…with varying degrees of success.

14.Future_tech.jpg

Then Ally got down to the serious business of locating the next father.  Her collection was still missing a ghost, so she started sleeping during the day and spending her nights at the local cemetery.  She was pleased to find that deathfish had survived into the future, so she could keep herself occupied while waiting for the haunting to start.

On her second night, three of the ghosts came out to investigate their new visitor.

15.Ghosts.jpg

(And, of course, they all had to waste precious time going, “Ew! A ghost!” before they could start to socialise.)

16.Ghosts.jpg

By morning, she’d managed to convince both Nick Decker and Erik Wallace to visit the past with her.  As the sun came up and the ghosts drifted back to their graves, she picked up both of their tombstones and returned to base camp to tell Billy all about it.  Now they were free to return to their own time.

17.Return.jpg

They arrived back in Hidden Springs at dawn, only minutes after they’d left.

18.Return.jpg

Ally put her friends’ urns on a shelf in the bedroom where she could keep an eye on them and returned to her normal life, adding the new plants she’d collected in Oasis Landing to her garden and teaching Tiger Lily her toddler skills.

19.Routine.jpg

Even everyday life isn’t always routine, though.  She had a nasty mishap while repairing one of the showers and was lucky not to end up as a falling-from-the-sky ghost like Erik Wallace.

20.Not_so_much.jpg

Talking of Erik (and Nick), the lack of ghostly activity was becoming slightly worrying.  Ally moved their gravestones out to the back garden to see if that would help.  Maybe it was just coincidence, but at midnight Erik appeared.

21.Graves.jpg

Billy tactfully went upstairs to sleep in a child’s bedroom that was currently unused, while Ally flirted with Erik.

22.Erik.jpg

23.Erik.jpg

As it grew light, I noticed that Nick Decker had also come out to haunt.

24.Nick.jpg

Sorry, Nick – too late.

25.Erik.jpg

Erik’s child was already on the way.

Love the picture of Emit and Ally's water fight - he might have experienced advanced technology, but you can't beat a good old-fashioned water balloon :)

I had the same experience with Agnes, so possibly not a coincidence. Odd, though.

Erik is one neat looking ghost!  I forget, his appearance means he died in a fire right?

That's one amazing looking ghost!
Erik is one neat looking ghost!

Isn't he?  I was so pleased he appeared first :).

I forget, his appearance means he died in a fire right?

No, that's death by falling from the sky (i.e. a jetpack accident).  Fire ghosts look like this:
