Cool question, Leto.

When I was, let's see, eight or nine, my uncle recommended The Sims to me. He said it was just like a 'dollhouse, only on the computer.' This sounded pretty cool, so I convinced my mum to buy it for me for Christmas. I don't think I really 'got it', but it was definitely fun. As luck would have it, a girl down the road was going to university, and she gave me all her Sims Eps. That was fun.

So, that was when I got truly addicted. I brought every game until Sims 2 Freetime, where I stopped playing for a bit. But then, at the release of The Sims 3, I started right back up. And, well, that's where I am today. :)

Where you are today? I thought you are even a bit further today! Don't you have some expansions installed? ;)

My first encounter with the sims was when I got the sims deluxe edition (cant remember exact year)
The only thing I remember doing in this game (at a time when I was a lot younger and less mature, i think)was setting off fireworks indoors and starting fires ;D
I then lost interest until my sister got sims 2 plus a whole bunch of expansion packs and I loved playing it which led onto me buying the sims 3 and EP's

First Sims Memory!

Hey Simmers,

So I was talking to my brother yesterday about The Sims. He first introduced to me to them when the very first Sims game came out, it was "revolutionary" he said. He brought it round my house and I sat and watched him play it for hours. I just checked on Wikipedia and that was in 2000, I was 11, I'm now 23. The very first memory I have of gameplay were 2 fairly amusing things.

As I watched my brother playing Michael Bachelor (a legend), he started getting robbed, as this was the first time it had happened, my brother, as you would, began to panic and try clicking everything. He had no alarm  ;D I just sat and laughed at him whilst his cooker was thrown into a bag and the robber ran off. Bear in mind my brother would have been about 17, and screaming "What is he doing?!"  ;D I may use it against him one day. After being robbed, like the next Sim day after, Michael Bachelor then decided he would take up fire fighting, and began to try and put a fire out in his kitchen. He proceeded to die. My brother, the 17 year old "man", was devastated  ;D I still chuckle about it now!

So what are your first memories of the Sims, there must be tonnes of very amusing ones!

My first sims were Rosenfeld and Shirly Wright, named with a random namer.  I was into the random stuff even back then.  I was in high school at the time.  In Sims 1, you had to change light bulbs that burned out.  Shirly had peed on herself and was standing in the puddle when she tried to change the light bulb and electrocuted herself.  Oops.  I made a new sim, Celestina Vanderbilt, and moved her into another house.  It's a good thing there wasn't any aging back then; it took forever to get Rosenfeld to meet her!  They had four daughters together.  The first one was taken by the social worker when I left her home alone.  That's how clueless I was!  I didn't know an adult had to stay home with the baby!  The babies were made after lots of kissing, remember that?   :D  The Wrights' second daughter went to military school when she flunked out of regular school.  The third daughter was also removed by the social worker when she cried all night.  I thought that if the game was realistic enough to require an adult to remain home with an infant that those same adults would hear a crying baby even if it were not in the same room with them.  Nope.  She cried all night and in the morning the SW came for her.  The fourth daughter survived.  Trial by fire!

My first memory was actually with TS2, when I was given it by my uncle. I had a Male and female named Dick and Chrissy and they had 2 Sons, Leo and Jeff. Leo froze to death, and Jeff peed himself then "Fixed" a telly... yeah.

My first real solid memory of the Sims was having my first Sim's first child get sent off to military school because they were doing so poorly in school.

My first sims memory is in the very first game I played of sims 3 I had two sims and one was going to be cooking for them so she had the natural cook trait. With free will on high the other sim started cooking waffles in the stove and I saw him and didn't want him to be cooking so I tried to cancel the action while it was inthe stove.
Bad idea. Kitchen catches on fire. This was my very first sim day. That night a burglar robs my house.

My first Sims memory is from the first game, with no expansions. I was really young, was bored, and my aunt invited me to play it, while my uncle, the owner of the computer, was away (we couldn't mess on his computer while he was home). I had no idea of what I was doing in the game, so my aunt put the tutorial back for me.

When the tutorial ended, I was lost. Bob Newbie kept his level 1 job as a mascot for a long while. I was afraid of doing anything wrong, because I had seen my uncle play with Bob Newbie before and I thought it was "his" lot. After my aunt told me that there were many different neighborhoods with many different Bob Newbies, I went nuts. I changed their backyard (that little 3x3 red tiled area with a lamp) into a room with a bookshelf. For me, it was a top-edge office.

After that I made my own sim and placed him in that empty lot uphill (the biggest one there was). I don't remember much of what happened to him. Square gigantic spacy rooms are what defined the house I built best. To be honest, I only learned how to build a good house in The Sims 3, and the help of the building guide here.

That's my first memory.

My first memory... probably building a second story of the Newbie's house in TS1. I built it almost as a mirror image of downstairs. I just changed maybe a few things.
Oh the nostalgia. I also remember building a nonsensical house for a CAF (Create a Family, the old name for CAS) Sim. It lead all the way around just to get to the toilet. ;)

I like the topic!

For the longest time, every house I built was exactly like the Newbies': a 3x3 bathroom, a 4x4 bedroom and a kitchen/common room as big as I could afford.

The only thing I can remember from TS1 was placing fireworks in the middle of my sims house and setting them off, starting fires.

Strange how this is my first memory of the game.

I know there's already a top very similar to this, but I can't find it to merge them together.

If anyone knows where it is, please post a link here.  Any Moderator can merge the two, otherwise I'll take care of the merge.  I believe the thread is by Leto.
