Chapter 7 - Love and the Toddler

Oh, but of course you want to hear more about the baby! He is the center of attention in our little household. A lineup of at least three is constantly in the nursery, and we had to get rid of Bonehilda just to reduce the amount of traffic!

I was overjoyed to hold my little boy up to the cake, blocking out the thought that, one day soon, he would no longer be so little.

It just so happened that my son and I shared a birthday, so we shared a birthday party as well! I'm sure nothing will change when I'm an adult--how could it, when I live such a happy life?

See? I look, and feel, wonderful--oh, no! Wrinkles! Wrinkles, wrinkles, wrinkles! The house is too small, the car is too cheap, my clothes are too old-lady, CHANGE IT ALL!

Oh, dear. I didn't handle that nearly as well as expected.

Here, look at these pictures of Nick while I go primp. Yes, Nick--but we usually call him by his full name, Nicholas. Isn't he adorable? With Thornton's hair, and my eyes--although I hear you all were rooting for my hair and Thornton's eyes! Both combinations are gorgeous, I'm sure.

I'm very pleased with his bright, sunny wardrobe, considering I hadn't been there to help him choose his clothing. Thornton had taken me "backstage" to assuage my age-related worries.

Do you see wrinkles? I do. Everywhere! Oh, this is just silly . . . there! Right above my mouth, I knew it!

Alex and Bella attended Prom together, although neither won crowns. While at the dance, Bella asked Alex to go steady! Isn't it just so very wonderful? Oh, to be young . . . and unlined . . . and vibrant . . .

Alexander aged into a Young Adult in front of the Science Center, where he intends to seek employment. He's already an expert fisherman, and quite a good gardener, so advancing through the Science career shouldn't be difficult him.

He aged rather . . . plump, and asked me to make him a Lean and Mean potion. He looks extremely handsome, if I do say so myself, and I confess to feeling an almost motherly pride for his Honor Roll achievement and incredible mastery of fishing. He certainly has grown from that chubby little boy with the funny hat who was dropped off at our house so long ago--although, I suppose that by the time I'm a hundred years old, a few weeks will no longer feel so very long!

After the heir was born, I walked around town thanking everyone who had sent their congratulations. I paid special attention to a certain young man--the recurring romantic interest, Michael Bachelor.

You see, I had discovered through Alex, who is dating Michael's sister, Bella, that Michael is currently in a steady relationship with a Claire Ursine, while also seeing Kaylynn "unofficially." In addition, the young Mr. Bachelor has been replacing Dustin Langerak as the most persistent writer of love letters--to me.

Now, usually I would be flattered, and laugh off this attraction as a sweet-natured joke. However, this Michael is hurting Kaylynn--or would be, if she wasn't so busy with her art that she barely leaves the house. And when some townie with an old-man haircut and loafers is hurting my Kaylynn--oh, dear, my Mama Bear side has emerged. I'll have to write Michael, the sweet young man, an apology note with a fruit basket--but still, it is simply not nice to go behind people's backs in ways of love! If this gets out of hand, I'll send Agnes and Zelda to deal with him; they're far more ruthless than I am, I fear.

Agnes has started writing a Children's novel called "The SMD." I believe that stands for "The Small Mean Dwarf," but it is impossible to be certain as dwarves are customarily both friendly and hospitable. At any rate, Agnes ended up joining the Writing career and is doing quite well.

Kaylynn is pursuing both sculpting and her architect career and excels in both. She really is such a talented young lady--far too good for a boy like Michael, who seems perfectly nice then acts like a--no, no, using such language is very unladylike.

Alex is pursuing interests of a rather . . . different kind.

I'm very happy for him and Bella, of course, but felt the need to draw him aside for a little chat all the same. "Alex, dear, is pre-marital Woohooing really a good idea? What about Bella's reputation? What if she gets pregnant?"

"Aunt Serena, I want to marry Bella, but there isn't enough room in the house! Isn't it better that we can be together, even if it does cause a little gossip?"

As a happily married woman, I can't very well argue with the ideal of being happily in love. Being a hopeless romantic, I can't very well argue with the ideal of love that can never truly be! Thornton feels the same way, I'm sure.

I taught little Nicholas the principles of love the following morning, being sure to stress that he must never, ever be a bad person and cheat on his beloved. I certainly hope little Nicky understood, as love does make the world go 'round. And no one can love many in the romantic way without hurting everyone involved--well, no one besides Freddie Classic, anyway. Freddie, Freddie, Freddie . . . you are just too wise.

Oh, you can really see the family resemblance! I'm lucky that my men are so handsome, and kind, and sweet, and just so wonderful in every way. Love, love, love!

Spotted seems rather curious about the newest addition to the family. Nicky, on the other hand, worships the prim little cat.

Just look at that sweet little face!

Did I mention that I mastered cooking? The certificate is proudly displayed in my museum, next the photograph of me going into labor. Ah, memories . . .

Oh, I feel horrible! All this talk about faithful love, and I was so upset over becoming older that I--I--I cheated on Thornton with Ian Bowler! And the night before Love Day, too . . .

After that betrayal, I was too ashamed to even Woohoo with my husband. Somehow, it just felt like taking advantage of him--and the beautiful wedding picture over our bed did nothing to soothe my guilt!

At his question, I confessed to cheating and nearly started crying. But Thornton understood immediately, and comforted me. He knew nothing serious had happened, and that we still loved each other with just as much passion.

Our relationship was mended, our marriage was saved, and I knew, for with firmer conviction than ever, that only Freddie Classic can practice in free romantic love. I also realized that friendly love will be enough for me, so long as Thornton is always by my side to supply me with the other kind.

Nicholas is adorable! Good genes. That was very hypocritical of Serena, I'm glad she was properly penitent. Hopefully Bella has a cute lil nooboo!

Curse the mid-life crisis! I probably should have just sent her in for counseling, after all . . . Alexander bought the Fertility Treatment before Trying for Baby, so hopefully there will be several little Alexander clones!

Nick looks like a great combination of his parents. I like that he got Thorton's hair! Ah, Serena, obsessing over her wrinkles. Hehe. I tend to ignore my sims midlife crisis wishes, or did Serena do that autonomously?

I love the hair, but I kind of hope it's gone in a few generations because I don't want every heir to have the same gray hair! I tried to fulfill a few of her wishes, but the checking out wrinkles was autonomous.

You could always just remove the highlights and put the gray back when it's age appropriate?  Anyway, he's super cute.  And yellow is such a fun favorite color

Chapter 8 - An Altogether Confusing Love Day

Thornton and I started the most magical holiday of the year in the nursery, while Nicholas pretended not to see us and instead turned his attention to the toy box. Oh, that boy is so precocious!

After eating, we drove to the Spring Festival in the park.

Kaylynn met up with Michael--remember, the boy dating Claire Ursine? She seems completely oblivious to his other relationship, and spent the day slow-dancing with him.

Yay! Face paint! I feel like a ninja! And/or unicorn.

Agnes raced her nephew, Mortimer, in gathering all the spring eggs. Mortimer feigned indifference after it became clear that he was going to lose.

Poor Alex was unable to hang out with Bella, since she got a job as a cashier!

While we were still a little giddy from the Love Day moodlet, my husband and I manned--and wommaned!--the Kissing Booths!

Alexander was the first to ask me for a kiss--he did have a little crush on me when he was younger, and it's always been a bit of a joke between us.

Agnes showed off her major kissing skills at Thornton's booth. Dear Agnes really should date someone--after all, she has such a wonderful personality and is so skilled!

I would have continued this line of thought and set Agnes up with an eligible bachelor, but a rather handsome police officer approached, and you know a man in a police uniform is simply irresistible . . .

He wasn't a bad kisser, either!

We decided to exit the kissing booths, but Thornton hopped over and asked for a kiss first. I made 5 simoleons, from being kissed by a townie, while my husband was only kissed by our housemates, thus making no money. My mid-life crisis is over!

Thornton and I next visited the Love-O-Meter. We didn't not get the blue setting, we received on of the orange bars. The Meter told us that "You Two Have Really Awesome Make-Outs," or something along those lines. We agree, completely.

At any rate, Thornton escorted me to the dance floor, and we . . . well, we danced!

Meanwhile, Zelda pursued her lady love and ended up making out with him outside the diner for 5 straight hours! Girl power, Zelda . . .

Kaylynn approached Alexander at the kissing booth. Need I tell you what happened?

Considering Michael's refusal to kiss Kaylynn, and the fact that Bella ignored Alex all day, we might have a real chance for Kalex! Alynn? Anyway, I've been rooting for the young people to get together since they moved in, and this might be their chance!

Oh, dear. This is not good, not good, not good at all! Well, it's very nice that Alexander and River are now in love, but . . . cheating on Bella? That is not how we raised Alexander, not at all!

Down at the bistro, Monika Morris flirted with my Thornton! As if the whole town didn't know that we've been married for half a year!

Across the courtyard, I saw them and felt something inside, something nearly alien to my personality--anger. And hatred. I felt the urge to throw a fireball at Monika!

However, Thornton laughed it off and took my hands in his. I now respect and love him more than ever--for not completely blowing up when I confessed to cheating with Ian.

Alexander invited River over to our house for "a party," and spent a few hours "hanging out" with her in the front hallway. I want those hands further north, Alexander! It is awfully sad to see little children grow into adults, and I hate the thought of my Nicholas being an adult someday. I just hope he stays the sweet little boy he is now, and doesn't warp like Alex.

"So, remember that party I told you about earlier? This is it."

I'm going to keep the gray on Nicholas, but if it reoccurs I'll probably remove the highlights.

Such a fun update. I feel bad for Kaylynn though...she can't seem to catch a break when it comes to love.

We can only hope, right?

Kaylynn, Kaylynn, Kaylynn . . . I really want to set her up with one of the "M" original townies (anyone besides Malcolm!) and when she and Michael became RI, I thought it was fate. Don't worry, Kaylynn, I won't give up on Maylynn! Kichael?

So much drama in your town! Everyone kissing and making out and cheating. And hey, what's wrong with Mortimer as a romantic interest?

I feel that I am especially blessed with sims who will fall in love and flirt with anyone they're "attracted" to, thus creating plenty of material for me to manipulate into a story convey in the truest sense. And, when I get bored, I use Alex to create a few more babies  :Dl Nothing's wrong with Mortimer as an RI, although he does irritate me. Malcolm, on the other hand, has just never appealed to me. Not to Kaylynn, either!

Chapter 9 - Becoming a Child, Becoming an Elder (Twice)

Although I threw Nick's birthday party, I had to leave for work before he blew out the candles. Thus, Thornton carried his son to the cake for his child birthday.

Looking back at the pictures Kaylynn texted me, I can't help but laugh at Nicholas's aging up picture! The crossed eyes, sweater-vest, mismatched shorts, snow boots, Malcolm Langraab haircut . . . not that there's anything wrong with Malcolm! He's certainly very nice, if a little pompous.

Isn't he very handsome? He somehow inherited the gray, as well as black, in Thornton's hair! I wouldn't have minded helping him dye the gray tips black, but he thinks the gray makes him look very distinguished. I can't disagree!

As you recall, his favorite color was yellow, but I did convince him to add a little blue once I got home. I especially like his formalwear, as it is quite fairy-ish. Elfish? At any rate, he's a regular Puck!

Meanwhile, everyone paired up on the dance floor! Agnes snagged hot policeman Hank Goddard, and they seemed to hit it off quite well. However, I refuse to advocate cheating (anymore!) and Hank does have a steady girlfriend.

Since Michael was not in attendance, Kaylynn and Thornton had an uncle-niece dance. Officially, Kaylynn isn't my niece, but since Zelda is kind of my sister, why not?

Speaking of Zelda, her lover appears to have gained a little weight. I feel bad for those tiny fairy wings, having to tote that bulk around!

Reading back, I am ashamed by my malice. So sorry, Chris, you've never looked better!

Zelda may be a little old for Nicholas, but that doesn't keep her eye off dynasty spouse! It would be very nice to have Zelda in the family tree, but she is celebrating her elder birthday tomorrow, so I'm afraid 'tis not to be.

At any rate, Nicholas stayed up and partied with the grown-ups until 3 in the morning, but he gave me a hug and went to bed when I came home.

In somewhat related news, have I mentioned that Thornton has experienced an extreme personality change? Instead of disliking children, he is far more family-oriented, and there is another change that I cannot pinpoint. I've decided to not analyze, but just take time to enjoy him.

Nick is quite the little prince! He pretends to be very macho, but is constantly sneaking off to dress up with the chest I got him. I once caught him practicing his "royal wave," which is just too cute!

He also plays at the playground across the street, and can spend hours pretending to be a pirate or adventurer. I'm so happy that he's friendly and light-hearted, while his adventures never stray from the sunny side of imagination.

Nicholas also loves swimming! It really is quite nice to see the ocean reflected in his pretty blue eyes, the color of the water blending with the gray tips of his hair.

The real difficulty here lies in getting Nicholas out of the water! If I had a nickel for every time I had to send Thornton to the beach to drag Nick home after dinner . . . I'd be an even richer dynasty founder than I am now!

Agnes and Zelda aged up quietly, having previously decided that they would keep their identical birthdays a secret so that I wouldn't throw a party.

I certainly hope I look like that as an elder! Both women dyed their hair, since gray really is such a joyless color.

Nick went off to his first day of school, and spent the bus ride chatting with the bus driver! He came home and announced, "Mama, I know how babies are made!" And here I was, hoping that the magical goose fable would last . . .
