So a fireblast followed by immediate extinguishing is ok, and if some sim is dumb enough to get caught on fire during that brief window, we're under no obligation to help them, then?

I would actually like to hear from Sherry too, her feelings (and intent, if there was any beyond curiousity).

Also, Trip, "let's hope someone dies" made me laugh. It sounds so sociopathic.

My founder of a new ID was given the One Sim Band LTW. He completed it Wednesday Week 1 (thanks to multiple brain enhancement machines and potions). Yhanks to his Wish Enhancing Potion, received over 100k in LTHPs for completing it.

I'm pondering whether the Band 'Career' (which I've never done before) counts as a Career in terms of the unique career requirement. I'm not aware of anyone having done it as a career in the ID and so am just wanting to make sure it counts. :)

Many thanks,

Dek

@Deklitch

Yes, band is a career (self-employed).

Okay, I've been running on my dynasty and not checking on this again, so I might be a bit late to explain this.

Well if you need to fulfill a wish, then setting the ground by your home on fire and a paparazzi caught on fire, then I guess its ok.  However purposely going to the community park and setting ground on fire seems wrong.
Perhaps I should explain first: why a community park? and not home lot?
Because when I set fire on home lot, household member would immediately got their queued activity hijacked and they have to running o the fire and doing the silly fire dance, and me as a partially obsessive compulsive watcher find this incredibly annoying.
So, if I do fire blast on a park, who cares if the random townies activity had to be interrupted? I certainly don't, they are not controlled by me.  8)

But sometimes there are too much townies surrounding the fire and I have no idea what s wrong with the path-ing but my sim can't reach the fire because someone blocked her path and suddenly a sim caught on fire. And I think 'Aaaaw! not again!'.

I personally felt bad too if I don't help the sim who caught on fire, but the with the path problem, it could take hours before I could finally succeeded. So, I have to ask those questions above, about the okay or not to ignore the sim who caught on fire.

My sim is a witch and would occasionally has a wish to hit a fireblast. Hence the reason for occasional burning on the park. In reality (or real life) perhaps they all had developed phobia of fire already.  :P

I'm fine with setting the ground on fire with a Fire Blast or something; "Fighting Fire" is a photo subject, after all, and worth a decent amount. But there is a difference between causing a fire and immediately putting it out, and causing a fire, walking away, and thinking "let's hope someone dies."

Ok I see your reasoning for going to the park instead of home lot.  It's fine as long as you intend to put out the fire but routing issues prevent it.  I agree with Trip on this, it's the intention that I am worry about, let's put fire in the park then hope someone dies, that feels like cheating.

But don't you get insurance money when your home lot burns?

@Trident

If you burn down items you do get insurance money, but if its just the ground (no items destroyed) then you don't get anything.

The bug might be fixed now but I played a save file with a witch about a year ago who fire blasted the ground in the middle of her front lawn with nothing in the way. She put out the fire immediately and then received 300,000 simoleons insurance payment. Has anyone else experienced this recently?

I haven't, but I've heard of the bug. I'm ambivalent towards this; for one, it is a pretty big (possible) exploit, but it's also a really little thing to ban. I might test it when I get home from work today to see if I can consistently get loads of insurance money from it.

I could definitely see banning it for the Tournament Rules, though.

I just tested it, fireblast my ground, got $324 insurance money only.  I'll keep trying to see if I can get 300,000

Am i allowed to change a lot type or two to "Resort" at the beginning of games? Because I really love the resort game play from Island Paradise but Isla Paradiso is too laggy even after just a week and it becomes unplayable.

The below snippets should be able to answer your question.

Can I change the lot type of a lot in town to something else?  Example: The Water Hole Juice Bar in Riverview to a Hangout or Recurve Strand in SV to a beach or Small Parks of Moonlight Falls to anything.
 -- The answer to this used to be a flat no.  With the introduction of Moonlight Falls and the small park situation, it was agreed upon that players can now change some lots.   Small parks & undesignated lots can now have their lot designation changed to one of these four choices only: Hangout, Beach, Big Park or Cat/Dog Park.  The reason for this is to allow players the ability to purchase these lots in game to place rabbit holes as needed or to give more options for real estate purchases.   You cannot delete these lots as per the rules but you can now purchase them which will allow you the ability to personalize placement of a few things you may not have been able to fit. Example: Changing a 64 x 64 small park in Moonlight Falls to a Big Park.   You can now purchase the Big Park and place a studio which needs at least 40 x 40 and one of the diners or the TL bistro since you still have room (if you wanted to).
Note: Because you have to place the Casino, the casino does not fall within the allowance of this policy.  It has to remain the same.

On 7/03/2013, the following rulings were made:
Resorts - If a player wishes to own a resort, that is their choice.  To get access to one players will need to either place a resort from Island Paradise or convert a private lot to a resort.  No new lots can be placed to be converted by you into a resort. Resorts are not business or properties so they don't count for those requirements.  There is also no career associated with resorts.

I'd like to prefer working (or owning resort) to have money and have none of my action queue interrupted rather than having insurance money but my action queue is in jumbles.
Yeah. I'm just that perfectionist. I know. And a bit obsessive compulsive I think.

I never had that much of a money from the fire insurance.
300.000 simoleons? Oh the shiny plumbob! What did your floor made of?! Diamonds? 24 carat gold?

This may be a bit off topic, but if you like the buff you get from your sims listening to their favorite music, when you make your founder set his or her favorite music as custom. Then go into the Sims 3 folder and put your favorite music in the custom music folder. My sims shall now exclusively listen to Les Mis.

EDIT: Also, are we aloud to use the Black Dragons from Dragon Valley to summon death flowers for your sim to plant?
