The Sims 3 Life States Dynasty Challenge

Maisie - it's not a guaranteed thing.   I know a Sim that didn't get a Key to the City ever.  And it's not an opp, it's a notification at the top of the screen that says - "get to City Hall in an hour".   If you miss that ceremony, it will never come up again.

I wasn't sure how to call it. She never got a notification so I think it won't come. Thank you, so I have to concentrate on vaccination clinics and the other stuff. It's only a little bit annoying since she has all the other restrictions done for days.

It's not guaranteed to happen in any length of time though.  It could happen weeks after you get to level 10.  It's not that it won't come.  It's that it's random when it will happen.

So if I'm getting this right, if my founder never takes a vacation, their unused days roll over to the next generation. Is there anything else I'm missing?

Each heir (former or current) works against the total for travel days.   

University Life Content Update:

Can I go to University?
-- Yes.   As far as the challenge team is concerned, think of going to university in the same sphere as going on vacation.   They use the exact same rules and restrictions as if they are the same thing.  For the Life States Dynasty, prior to University Life heirs were only allowed 7 days per heir each.  So each heir could only spend 7 days in another world.   With the release of University Life, we're opening it up so that you can accumulate the days over time so that with the birth of each generation  available vacation time will increase for your 7 life states..   You will still get 7 days per heir like befor.   However, your first heir will only have 7 days.   Once the second heir is born, another 7 days can then be taken by former heir and heir.    If both founder and gen 2 heir decide to go to egypt, every day they spend there together is worth 2 of the 14 days they have.  A three day trip with them both would cost you 6 days out of the allotted time.    You cannot take more time than your household currently has.   If you are only on generation 1,  your founder cannot go to University for a 2 term visit.  That would be 7 days more than your founder has and not allowed. 

You're on generation 3.  This means you have 21 days.   Gen 2 & Gen 3 go to china for three days.    That's 6 days used.  21 - 6 = 15 left.

Just because your founder doesn't use the days doesn't mean she lost them.  Just means she didn't go anywhere before the next gen was born.

Before the rule was each person had 7 days at any one point in the dynasty.   This meant that no one would ever be able to earn a degree at University.  You'd still be able to get the honorary one but it's not the same.   Metro felt this way - it was player's strategy on who got to go.

Technically yes.   Travel time is not restricted on a when you take it.  Just a when you get more.  Remember there are ways to get a degree and most of the benefits without ever actually traveling which keeps the file size down for these long generational games.    Deleting or modifying files within saves is considered cheating so they can get pretty big leaving them as they are.

How do you add University Life Lots to the hometown?

In another file, go to Edit Town.   At the top left,  you will see little white icons and one of them will look like a university.   Once the game is done loading, select the buildings you want to place and copy them to the bin.

Then when you load up your dynasty for the first time, go to Edit Town.  The buildings you saved will be available in the community lot bin at the bottom.  The rest works just like if you were placing a consignment shop for the first time.

Remember only four buildings are allowed in a homeworld from that travel world.

Edit: Can you only add lots if you're bulldozing one to add smaller or larger? Or can you add empty lots where they fit?

Is this new?  Does "travel world" include University?  I don't plan to get University just yet, but I'm just curious in case I abruptly change my mind like I sometimes do.
