I had the whims done for my founder by the end of day 2 or 3.

I wasn't quite as fast as simfulicious, but it was no problem getting the whims.
Sims go through so many emotional states naturally during their life so just catch the whims when they happen to pass by a state.
My founder has gotten all his whims now and his heir is only missing 2 and isn't even a young adult yet.
The whims will most likely be the easiest requirement to complete.

Agreed. And the rewards. With them it's just a question of making sure they are unique and buying them. Not much "doing" or work involved aside from having the Satisfaction to do so.

Often they can be in one of the moods anyway, from either school or work, so if you do not like to put them in the mood, just complete the emotional whim, when they get home.

For me personally, I think the party gold medals requirement is the hardest.

Amen to that~~!  Although I'm having a hard time with whims.  My Sim never seems to get angry or embarrassed.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

I thought maxing the career to lvl 10 and the gold medals were the hardest.
And if you want your sim to be angry, just make them have some mean interactions with a random sim and for the embarrassed emotion: let another sim walk into them when they're in the bathroom or shower. :)

I'm at generation 2 right now, gonna play some more in a few minutes. Been busy a lot lately but I think it's going pretty well so far.

I just got the embarrassed whim for no apparent reason since she was alone.  Ah well, one left and I know just who to tick off!  lol

Question on skills.  Cooking and Gourmet Cooking are counted as two different skills, right?

Correct.  Homestyle cooking and gourmet cooking are 2 different skills.

In terms of collections, can helper sims assist with finding things, or does it have to be the target immortal? For instance, if I'm collecting the MySims dolls, can I pull it from the spouses inventory?

For the Museum, can the Fish be mounted?

Helper sims cannot assist.  The targeted immortal/heir has to be the one doing the collecting.

Yes.

My Sim never seems to get angry or embarrassed.

Have someone walk in on them while using the toilet, or have them do so to someone else and Embarassment while show up quite nicely - just don't use a romantic interest as the 2nd sim.

In any case, I had the 7 whims covered on day one with 5 of them occurring while on a date with my intended spouse (got the gold btw).

Agreed. I'm on Gen 3 of my dynasty and the gold medals have been the hardest to get. I've never been good at parties anyway, in TS3 it was like "make sure everyone's happy and you're good" but  its so much more now. But, I guess it wouldn't be called "challenge" if it was easy!
