The Sims 4 Discover University: Psychology

Standard and Distinguished Psychology Degree Applications and Career Benefits

The Sims 4 Psychology Degree

Psychology Degree in The Sims 4 Discover UniversityPsychology Description: Psychology considers one of the core questions of existence - why do we do what we do? - and unpacks in an academic setting. Boost skills such as charisma, logic, and research & debate, all while unlocking the mysteries of the mind.

Distinguished Application

Available at School: Foxbury

Requirements: Being accepted into one of the two schools for a distinguished degree in Psychology is not guaranteed, but having the following skills and factors in your favor will make it more likely. You begin with a 5/20 chance. This is multiplied by:

FactorSkill Level?Multiplier
High School"A" Student2x
High School"B" StudentFlat, no gain or loss
High School"C" to "F" StudentFrom 0.5 (C) to 0.25 multiplier to score with D-F.
Acting3+x2
Mischief3+x2
Parenting3+x2
Charisma2-3x2
Logic2-3x2
Research and Debate2-3x2
Charisma4-6x4
Logic4-6x4
Research and Debate4-6x4
Charisma7-10x8
Logic7-10x8
Research and Debate7-10x8

Additionally, Sims can flaunt fame for a x2 multiplier (but will have it dropped to 0.25 on failure). Sims who donate can also see a big multiplier of x16, but a failure there is the worst of the bunch (0.125). Having a multiplier less than 1 is dropping the score a lot.

Ultimately, your final score will determine if you are accepted in to a distinguised program. There is a non-distinguished version of every degree in Discover University. If you fail to get into a distinguished program, you can take the regular version at the other school. There are caveats, so see the degrees guide for more detailed information. It also explains the difference between with and without honors.

My Sim graduated with honors in distinguished psychology degree and started at level two of the education career.

Did you choose the wrong branch? The psych degree only gives a boost to the Professor Branch.

I have the same problem and I don't get to pick the branch. My Sim graduated with a Distinguished Psychology Degree with Honors. They also did great in high school so when I pick a career over the computer they get to level 3, when I use the button in the career panel they start at level 2.

Nevermind, figured it out. There is a seperate entry in the career list for the branch. I guess it makes sense somehow but still, feels kinda unintuitive.

Picking the career and then getting a pop up to pick the branch or start normally would be less confusing, I think.

That's strange. My sim took a psychology distinguished degree in Foxbury and graduated with all A+ and one A (not sure if that counts as Honours). But I only started at Level 8 of the Professor career, instead of Level 9 as suggested in this page. However, my Research and Debate skill was Level 7 (you need Level 8 for Level 9 professor positions). I wonder if that has something to do with it.

Hey, glad you said something. When I did a double check, everything about education was off by the same amount. Since we didn't have any info yet on education, I messed up when figuring out what "rank 3" professor means. I think I simply had it in mind at the time that education branches later than it does, because they're all exactly off by 2 levels. This has been fixed now, thanks!

Find it super odd that they haven't done a psychology career. or an archaeology one with jungle adventures. I'm fine with a rabbit hold career, but it's just weird that I can work so hard to get the skills and then.... not use them as a career?

I feel like it would have made sense to have had the doctor career split into Surgeon and phycologist.

I agree. And vice versa… for an education career, it would make more sense to study education instead of psychology. It’s weird how they structured these, for sure.
